Since its foundation in 1998, Cocan Graphite has become a symbol of the transformative effects of innovation and globalization, deeply embedded within the context of China's dynamic economic reforms and technological progress and advancements at the turn of the centuries.

The origin of Cocan Graphite can be traced back to 1997 when the founder Adam Tseng, using his linguistic skills and courageous foresight, discovered the potential of connecting China's abundant carbon resources with the global markets by using the newly-emerged internet here in China. This revelation occurred at a time when China was largely an 'isolated information island' with the internet still in its infancy and limited mainly to academic and foreign entities.

Spurred by his initial internet research which highlighted a significant global demand for graphite - a resource rich in China but underrepresented internationally - Adam established Cocan Graphite in 1998 in Luotian, a historically significant area. He was driven by the vision to bridge the gap between China’s carbon industry and global markets.

The company quickly specialized in processing powder and granular synthetic graphite, adapting its operations to meet the intricate demands of international customers, namely and mainly at very beginning for a few world biggest graphite and carbon processors and traders. By 2001, the company faced logistical challenges that prompted a strategic relocation to Wuhan, improving its expansion capabilities and market accessibility.

In the year of 2004, Cocan Graphite expanded its portfolio to include steel welding services, a move that catered for the ancillary needs of its customers who was producing different types of carbon or chemical products. This expansion in the welding business was part of a broader strategy to modernize operations with advanced German digital welding machinery, both serving internally as an equipment maintnance and externally  providing welding products to various customers.

The year of 2007 was a milestone year with the acquisition of industrial land for future growth, signaling a new chapter in Cocan Graphite's history. By 2012, the renovations of the Cocan Carbon Center with two dozens of cutting-edge lab equipment and the launch of the 3rd generation graphite auto-process system which highly elevated our quality assuance capacity and production accuracy and efficiency.

In 2013, the company shifted its company strategy from only serving global carbon traders to directly serving industrial end users in the global market, which enabled Cocan Graphite team to understand customers' needs more direct in their applications. As of actions, Cocan Graphite started to activate advertisement compaigns on Google and Baidu and also commenced to be presented at different types of international conferences and shows worldwide. The new strategic realignment aimed at fostering direct relationships with global industrial giants, enhancing operational efficiency and customer engagement. Then the zero-defect achievement in the next 10-year practices with global key customers has proven that Cocan Graphite can tailor make and manage the graphite and carbon products even better than our counterparts. 

In the year of 2023, Cocan is highlighted by the installation of a 1.5MW rooftop solar power station to power the company, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability. 

Stepping into 2024, Cocan Graphite is going to commission its air-jet milling capacity to micronize graphite down to D50, 3-5 micron so as to fullfil the demands in some special applications. Meanwhile, at the steel welding side, computerized laser cutter, 4-roll computerized metal roller and robotic welding stations are on the ways for much higher product quality and unbelievable efficiency. We do think new and think ahead! The world is a little bit chaotic at this moment but in the long run, no doubt the economy eventually will boom again. So our exciting chapters of development and renovations will never end. 

Despite its relatively shorter history compared to some century-old global counterparts in the graphite and carbon industry, Cocan Graphite has been an positive example of perseverance, adaptability, and visionary leadership in its short history. Cocan Graphite continues to strive forward for further excellence and a sustainable future, sharing its progressive journey with global partners and customers.
